About the Role


We are looking for a Finance Accountant to join the team in our Perth CBD office. This position plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the Company's financial reporting and compliance obligations. You will support the month-end close process, prepare statutory reports, manage general tax and lease accounting requirements, and provide operational finance support across the business.

 

You will be working closely with Accounts Payable, Payroll, Supply Chain, and other internal stakeholders, and will help ensure timely and accurate financial processing while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within the finance function.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Financial Reporting and Month-End

  • Manage payroll cost allocations.
  • Manage exploration and tenement capitalisation.
  • Prepare and post month-end journals and assist with the month-end close process.
  • Complete monthly general ledger reconciliations.
  • Prepare quarterly Appendix 5B cash flow reports.
  • Assist in the preparation of half-year and annual statutory financial statements in accordance with AASB and IFRS requirements.

Tax and Compliance

  • Prepare annual Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) calculations and supporting schedules.
  • Prepare and/or review monthly Business Activity Statements (BAS), including GST, PAYG, and GST relating to salary sacrifice arrangements.
  • Prepare mining royalty calculations.
  • Complete and submit Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) surveys.
  • Assist with other statutory and regulatory reporting requirements as required.

Lease, Fixed Assets and Finance Accounting

  • Manage lease accounting in accordance with AASB 16.
  • Account for asset finance arrangements, including leases and hire purchase agreements.
  • Ensure the accurate accounting treatment of GST, finance repayments, and related journal entries.
  • Maintain fixed asset and lease registers.

Procure-to-Pay and Operational Finance Support

  • Provide support and backup for the Accounts Payable function.
  • Monitor the Goods Received Not Invoiced (GRNI) account and investigate and clear aged or duplicate items.
  • Support operational finance processes and contribute to continuous process improvements.

 

About You

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting is essential and CPA / ACCA preferrable. 
  • Proven experience in a Financial Accountant or similar accounting role.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, including month-end processes, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Experience preparing statutory financial statements under AASB/IFRS.
  • Sound knowledge of AASB 16 lease accounting.
  • Experience with Australian taxation compliance, including BAS, GST, PAYG, and FBT.
  • The ability to work across both technical accounting and operational finance responsibilities.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships across the business.
  • Experience with Pronto ERP and ODBC reporting tools will be highly regarded.
