Employee Class: Salaried
Employment Type: Permanent Full-Time
Focus Minerals (ASX: FML) is a dynamic Australian gold producer with several operations in Western Australia’s most prolific gold region—Coolgardie. We're committed to unlocking the full potential of our projects using modern mining methods and a focus on sustainability, safety, and operational excellence.
We also have a pipline of new projects which are at various stages of progression from Scoping through to Feasibility study level, Permitting and Construction.
At Focus Minerals, we offer an opportunity to be part of a growth-focused team that values innovation, collaboration, and results.
We're looking for Graduate Underground Mining Engineers who are ready to start their careers in a hands-on mining environment. If you're keen to learn, aren't afraid to ask questions and want to be part of the action rather than sitting on the sidelines, this could be the opportunity you've been waiting for.
Based in Coolgardie, you'll work an 8/6 roster with the option to FIFO from Perth or DIDO from Kalgoorlie. With an immediate start available, you'll have the chance to step into a producing underground operation and start building your experience straight away.
What will your days look like?
No two days underground are exactly the same. You'll work alongside experienced engineers and operational teams, gaining exposure to the practical side of mining and seeing how your work translates into what happens underground.
You'll have the opportunity to:
- Get involved in drill and blast design and optimisation.
- Learn how to balance ore recovery and dilution in underground stopes.
- Support short-term planning and scheduling.
- Work alongside production teams to understand what makes an operation tick.
- Help identify smarter and more efficient ways of working.
- Build your understanding of underground mining from the ground up.
- Develop your technical skills while learning from people who know the industry.
- Get genuine exposure to the realities of underground mining—not just the theory.
What will make you stand out?
We're looking for someone who is genuinely interested in underground mining and is ready to start learning from day one.
You'll need:
- A Bachelor of Mining Engineering (or equivalent).
- A current WA Manual C Class Driver's Licence.
- At least one completed underground mining vacation program.
- Some exposure to underground hard rock mining and drill and blast.
- An understanding of long-hole open stoping is highly regarded.
- Some underground operational experience or time spent underground is advantageous.
- Full Australian working rights.
Most importantly, we're looking for graduates who are curious, practical and willing to get involved. You don't need to know everything—that's what the graduate journey is for. What matters is that you're ready to learn, contribute and make the most of the opportunity.
Why start your career with us?
This is your opportunity to build the foundations of your mining career in a team where you can gain real experience and see the impact of your work.
- Start as soon as possible and get your career underway.
- Work an 8/6 roster with time to enjoy life outside of work.
- FIFO from Perth or DIDO from Kalgoorlie.
- Gain hands-on underground mining experience.
- Learn directly from experienced mining professionals.
- Build your skills across planning, production and drill and blast.
- Be part of a team focused on improving the way we mine.
- Join a growing Australian gold producer with opportunities to develop your career.
